Lake Maggiore is a pre-alpine lake, the second largest in Italy. Between Stresa and Verbania is the archipelago of the Borromean Islands: Isola Madre, Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori.
It is entirely occupied by the Italian garden of Palazzo Borromeo with an incredible variety of exotic plants.
It is the largest island of the Borromeo Islands. It is occupied by some construction and it is mainly famous for the large and spectacular garden that is still considered one of the best examples of this art in Italy.
Isola dei Pescatori
It is the only island in Lago Maggiore permanently inhabited, with the particular multi-storey houses with long balconies (for drying fish). Narrow alleys where in summer tourists buy local crafts in the small but famous market.
